Every year, Discovery Channel’s Shark Week offers a chance for children to learn about different types of sharks and their ocean habitats. Our shark activities are inspired by this, turning fascination into interactive and fun ways to learn essential fine motor skills.

HOW TO PLAY THE SHARK FINE MOTOR GAME

After you download the free PDF, print the shark fine motor game.

Number of Players: 1 or more players. If you are playing with more than one person, each take turns and keep score to see who can get the most sharks out of the water.

Set Up: Cut out the sharks at the bottom of the page and place in the nine water boxes in the center of the square or use 9 game markers (i.e. pennies, buttons or bingo chips).

Object of the Game: Leave as few sharks as possible in the water.

How to Play: Start by hopping one shark over another next to it to land in an unoccupied square out of the water squares. Remove the shark that you hop over. You can hop diagonally, horizontally or vertically. Continue hopping over sharks and removing them until you can no longer take a turn. Try to leave the least number of sharks in the water.
