HOW DO YOU COMPLETE THIS ACTIVITY?

Print the worksheet page after you download it. Follow the color coding on the top of the page. If the arrow is facing:

  • up color the arrow red.
  • down color the arrow green.
  • left color the arrow blue.
  • right color the arrow yellow.

OTHER WAYS TO COMPLETE THE ACTIVITY

Here are a few options to modify or differentiate this activity:

  • Print on cardstock paper and laminate it.  Use wipe-off markers to write on the free printable.
  • Mark up the PDF using the something like Kami to color in the arrows.
  • Use dot markers to indicate the correct colors of the arrows rather than coloring each one of them in.
  • Make it easier by: printing it in color so the child does not have to read the words.
  • Make it more difficult by: reducing the size of the page so the arrows are smaller for the children to color in.
  • Add in physical activity by: adding in movement when the activity is complete. Follow the arrows – jump up, down, left and right!

VISUAL SPATIAL AWARENESS

The definition of visual-spatial relations is the ability to visually perceive two or more objects in relation to each other and to yourself. 

In this activity, children are working on: learning directionality and positional phrases (up, down, left, right).

Good visual spatial skills are important for tasks such as math, navigating the environment, following directions, and solving puzzles. FINE MOTOR SKILLS

Fine motor skills refer to the ability to control small muscles in the hands and fingers. For example in this activity, the children have to: pick up and use writing tools such as crayons, markers, or colored pencils to color in the arrows.

GROSS MOTOR SKILLS 

Gross motor skills are the ability to use large muscles to complete tasks. Examples of gross motor skills include walking, running, jumping, climbing, and throwing. 

For example, in this activity, the children have to: jump up, down, left, and right following the patterns of the arrows.
