Using Tabata for kids as a training exercise can be very motivating and super easy to complete. Get started with this FREE video today at the bottom of this post.

As a school-based Physical Therapist, I had a lot of success using this type of tabata training with kids. I found that they were willing to participate in high intensity interval training since it did not take that long. They also appreciated the rest periods in between going full force.

Using different exercises, I often used a Tabata workout for kids as a warm-up activity during a PT session. It was always super easy to do with a group of kids too!

What and When to Use Tabata for Kids?

The 4-minute workout has been around for a while, but the Tabata protocol – which involves 20 seconds of intense work followed by 10 seconds of rest – is new to most people. It’s a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout . It’s a type of exercise that can be extremely effective and time-efficient!

Tabata for kids is a safe and effective way to exercise if you have students who tend to dislike traditional exercise or just need a break from it. The kids will be surprised that such an intense workout is easy to achieve. Whether you are using it for a brain break in the classroom, during physical education, or as part of an occupational or physical therapy session, the kids will have fun.

There are many benefits of Tabata for kids’ workouts, including shorter workouts, more fat burned, and improved conditioning. You can do these workouts once or twice a week to supplement traditional workouts. Each session only takes 4 minutes! Four minutes goes by so fast, so the kids won’t get bored!
