OT and Parent Coach – Day in the Life Video Series #2

We continue with our Day in the Life Video series with an OT and parent coach. In this interview, Alison shares with us a day in her life as a school-based occupational therapist, parent coach, and mother of two. She provides valuable insight into the challenges and rewards of her career. Her advice is sure to be helpful to anyone striving to achieve balance in their own lives.

We discuss how she juggles working in the schools and managing her parent coaching business. She is actively involved in her community with educational awareness to support healthy child development.

Combining School-Based OT with Parent Coaching

Alison is a school based Occupational Therapist who also runs her own business called OT Time. She is constantly working to support independence in children through valuable life skills.

She offers parent coaching services and presents locally to parents and caregivers on various topics.

Alison chose to offer parent coaching in addition to her school-based OT job after she made the realization that kids need help at school and at home.

She works about 75% in the schools and 25% for her parent coaching business. As the only OT for a small district, she helps students from pre-K through 12 grade.

“Parent coaching helps tap into the other side of things to help children be successful at home too. It seemed more holistic which is really at the heart of OT.” – Alison Mazurak, OT
