If you are using a screen-sharing platform such as ZOOM with your students or Telehealth clients, these differentiated activities will allow you to give instruction while your students practice enjoyable interactive activities. No paper needed! Directions are included for use on ZOOM, but this resource will work on other platforms if you are allowed to screen-share and annotate PowerPoint files. Students can use a touch screen, trackpad, or mouse. This resource can only be used in Google Slides if you have an app to annotate. Mazes may not work on Chromebooks. When shared this PowerPoint file is used in the edit mode, not the present mode.
Benefits of the Interactive Mazes for Distance Learning
* Kids love doing mazes, and mazes help build perceptual, motor, and cognitive reasoning skills.
* Mazes are the perfect tool for addressing executive functioning skills of planning, impulse control, and cognitive flexibility.
* Teaching maze skills helps to cultivate growth mindset characteristics of persistence, frustration tolerance, and the flexibility to try a different way.
* Lack of precise motor control is a common issue that interferes with acquiring legible handwriting. These beginning mazes are a fun way to build visual motor skills with children at the writing readiness level.
* Mazes are sequenced from very easy to moderate difficulty.
* 44 color mazes can be used for on-line sessions or printed for practice between sessions.
